Q) How do I apply for a new provisional License?
A) You can apply online via the DVLA website www.direct.gov.uk/motoring forms or Tel: 0870 240009 or by completing and posting a D1 form from the post office.
Q) Can I start driving before I receive my provisional license?
A) No you must wait until you receive your license. However, it would be a good idea to start preparing for the theory test. Following a fully refunable deposit. If you would like to book your theory test go to www.direct.gov.uk
Q) What is involved in the theory test?
A) There is a multiple choice computer based test which requires you to score 43 out of 50 The 2nd part of the test is also computer based and is a series of video clips showing the on road hazards. The sooner you respond to the hazard the higher you score. To pass this element of the test you will need to score at least 44 out of 75.
Q) Can a friend or family member take me out in their car to practise in between lessons?
A) Yes, as long as they are over 21, hold a full license for 3 years and they have appropriate car insurance.
Q) When will I be ready for my test?
A) How long it takes for someone to be ready for the test depends on varoius factors such as aptitude and the access to a car for additional practice. When you are approaching test standard we will help you booking your test taking into account the current waiting list if any.
